Planning a Transfer to Moore College of Art and Design?

I'm looking into transferring to Moore College of Art and Design. Can anyone share what the experience is like? Any tips on the application process or things I should know before applying?

Moore College of Art and Design is known for its supportive academic community with a focus on women's leadership in the arts. Students often appreciate the small classes and opportunities for one-on-one mentorship with faculty.

As a prospective transfer student, you would be required to provide a transfer application that includes high school and all college transcripts, two letters of recommendation, and a personal statement that demonstrates your artistic vision and commitment to the arts. There is no fee for the transfer application.

When it comes to your portfolio, which is a key component of your application, you are expected to submit 8-12 pieces of your best and most recent work. The unique thing about Moore's portfolio review process is, that rather than expecting perfection, the faculty are looking for evidence of growth and technique in your work as well as your potential as an artist.

Essentially, they want to see that you've been experimenting in your work, pushing the boundaries of your chosen medium or theme, and are not only technically proficient but also capable of thinking critically and conceptually about your work. Including a range of pieces that demonstrate both technical proficiency in a range of mediums as well as personal creativity and experimentation will help present you as a well-rounded artist.

Finally, you'll want to do your research on the school’s specific programs and values and make sure what you write in your statement aligns with them. You can reflect on what inspired you to want to transfer to Moore College, what you hope to get out of your education there, and your expectations for your future career in the arts.

Good luck with your application! Remember, Moore College of Art and Design is a community that values creativity, passion, and dedication to the arts.
