Transferring from Pasadena City College to Ohio State University

Has anyone out there transferred from Pasadena City College to Ohio State University? What was your experience like, and do you have any tips for making this transfer as smooth as possible? I am wondering about the transfer requirements and credit transfers.

When transferring to Ohio State University (OSU) from Pasadena City College (PCC), it's important to take these steps to make your transition as smooth as possible:

1. Find Courses that Transfer: Use the credit transfer tool provided by Ohio State University called Transferology to check which courses you've taken at PCC that will successfully transfer to OSU. Not all courses will directly transfer, or some may not count towards your chosen major, so this should be your first step to ensure you're on the right track academically.

2. Follow Transfer Admission Requirements: OSU requires transfer students to have at least 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of college coursework, a 2.5 GPA from their most recent institution attended (on a 4.0 scale), and good standing with their current school. Depending on your intended major, there may also be additional admission requirements so check the specific requirements for your program on the OSU website.

3. Application: The OSU application includes a section where you list and describe your extracurricular involvement. Like freshman admissions, demonstrating commitment and leadership in a few activities can outweigh a long list of less-involved activities. The application also includes a personal statement, where you should explain your reasons for transferring and how you can contribute to the OSU community.

4. Transcripts: When you apply, you'll need to send all of your college transcripts, including from PCC. If you've attended more than one college, be prepared to send those transcripts as well. The Common App Transfer form includes a Transfer Registrar Report that must be completed by an official at PCC.

5. Complete FAFSA: Completing the FAFSA is important for getting access to federal financial aid. OSU’s school code is 003090 and the application opens October 1 each year.

Transfer processes can seem daunting, but Ohio State University supports transfer students through their Transfer Success Services, who are there to guide you through this process. Don't hesitate to reach out to the admissions office if you have any questions or concerns. The more informed you are, the smoother the process will be. Good luck!
