UC transfer requirements for Pasadena City College students?

What do I need to meet the UC transfer requirements as a Pasadena City College student? I'm hoping to transfer to a UC after two years and want to make sure I'm on track with all the prerequisites.

To successfully transfer from Pasadena City College to a University of California (UC) school, you'll have to meet certain requirements.

To start, you'll need to complete at least 60 semester (90 quarter) units of UC-transferable credits by the end of the spring term prior to the fall term for which you are applying. Remember that UC schools only accept junior-level transfers, meaning you need to build up enough credits to reach this level.

You'll want to maintain a minimum GPA of 2.4 for non-residents and 2.8 for California residents. However, keep in mind that most UC schools and programs are competitive so higher GPAs are often necessary for admission. Aiming for a GPA of 3.0 to 3.4+ would make your application more competitive.

UCs mandate that students fulfill the Seven Course Pattern minimum requirements:

- 2 transferable college courses in English composition

- 1 transferable college course in Mathematical Concepts & Quantitative Reasoning

- 4 courses from at least two of the following subjects areas: Arts & Humanities, Social & Behavioral Sciences, Physical & Biological Sciences

Also, it's critical to complete your major prerequisites. Each UC campus and major has different prerequisite courses so you'll want to look specifically at the UC(s) and major(s) you're interested in. Pasadena City College likely provides a resource for determining the articulation agreement between their courses and the UC's prerequisites.

Applying for the Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) could also help as six UC campuses offer guaranteed admission to California community college students who meet specific requirements.

For specific advice on your own academic path, you should visit your college advisor, as they can provide personalized advice to help align your current college coursework with the requirements for your UC school and major of interest.
