Transferring from Moorpark College to Cal Lutheran

I'm currently at Moorpark College and interested in transferring to California Lutheran University. Does anyone know if there are specific class requirements or credit limits for transfer students?

California Lutheran University (Cal Lutheran) has a comprehensive transfer process, accepting up to 80 semester units of credit from a combination of 2-year and 4-year institutions, including Moorpark College.

To be accepted as a transfer student, here are some general requirements you should be aware of:

1. You'll need to have completed at least 30 semester hours of transferable college coursework.

2. Be in good academic standing at your current or last college or university attended. A minimum college GPA of 2.75 is recommended, though Cal Lutheran reviews all applications holistically, and other parts of your application, like your essays and extracurriculars, can offset a slightly lower GPA.

3. Fulfillment of the English Proficiency Requirement (if you're an international student).

When it comes to specific class requirements, Cal Lutheran does not mandate you to have taken specific courses before transferring. However, the university does have General Education Program requirements that all students need to fulfill to graduate. You can take these courses at Moorpark before transferring, or at Cal Lutheran after transferring.

The General Education Program expects students to have a well-rounded academic base and includes courses in the following disciplines: writing, religion, foreign languages, mathematical modeling, arts and humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and elective interdisciplinary courses. The range of classes you can take to fulfill these requirements is quite broad, meaning you have the flexibility to align your course selection with your interests.

Lastly, keep in mind that while Cal Lutheran does not set a limit to the number of transfer units you can possess, the university requires that the last 30 semester credits before graduation be completed in residence at Cal Lutheran.

You should reach out to the Transfer Admission team at Cal Lutheran for more specific guidance tailored to your situation. They can provide detailed information on the transfer process and how your credits from Moorpark might articulate.
