How does Normandale Community College help with transferring to the University of Minnesota?

I'm looking into starting at Normandale Community College with the aim of transferring to the University of Minnesota. Are there specific programs or advising services at Normandale that streamline this process? Any experiences shared would be great!

Normandale Community College has a Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC) program that is a 40-credit general education package transferable within all Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system, as well as the University of Minnesota, Concordia University, Augsburg College, and the University of St Thomas.

This means that if a student completes the MnTC at Normandale, they will have fulfilled the lower division general education requirements at any of those schools, including the University of Minnesota.

In addition, Normandale Community College houses Transfer Services, a dedicated office for students who aim to transfer to a four-year institution. They offer several resources like transfer advising, transfer fairs, and help with the transfer application process. Advisors will be able to guide you through course selections that align with your intended major at the University of Minnesota to ensure that most, if not all, of your credits transfer.

Normandale also has Articulation Agreements with a range of schools. These are formal agreements between two or more colleges and universities documenting the transfer policies for a specific academic program or degree in general. Checking whether University of Minnesota has such an arrangement with Normandale could bring additional benefits.

Remember to remain in regular communication with both Normandale and the University of Minnesota throughout the process. The contacts at both institutions will ensure that you are on track for your transition. Best of luck with your academic journey!
