Transferring to Queens College from a foreign country

Has anyone transferred to Queens College from another country? I'm an international student and I'm not sure how my credits will be evaluated. Any advice on the process or experiences to share? Thanks!

Given the nature of this process, the first and perhaps most important step in transferring to Queens College or any other U.S. university is to contact the admit office directly. Both curricular differences and the need for language assessment mean the process for international students can be a bit more complex than for domestic students.

The admissions office should be able to fill you in on the specifics for Queens College. Generally, you should expect to provide your transcript from your current institution, a Course-by-Course Evaluation Report (Er.e.e) and potentially even course descriptions or syllabi to aid in credit assessment, language proficiency testing results (like TOEFL or IELTS scores), in addition to the usual documents in an application package such as essays and recommendation letters.

It is ultimately up to the admissions office and/or respective academic departments at Queens College to determine how many of your credits can be transferred. This can depend on the relevancy and level of the courses you've taken, the grades you received, and how similar the content is to the coursework offered at Queens.

Keep in mind that while you can get a preliminary assessment on what credits may be counted, the ultimate decisions are typically made after you're offered and accept a place.

Don’t stress out too much – while it's important to understand what you're getting into, thousands of international students successfully transfer between institutions every year. You're not alone in this journey!
