Stonehill College transfer credits process

Does anyone know how Stonehill College handles transfer credits? I'm worried about losing some of my credits from my current school. Any info on their policies or how to maximize transferred credits would be awesome!

When it comes to transferring credits to Stonehill College, the first thing you should know is that Stonehill will only accept transfer credits from a regionally accredited institution, and only for courses in which you've received a grade of 'C-' or better. Additionally, the courses must align with the Liberal Arts, Sciences, or Business curriculum at Stonehill.

Each transfer application is reviewed on an individual basis and the college determines course equivalencies. Transcripts are analyzed by faculty and/or the Registrar’s Office to determine the comparability of the courses to those offered at Stonehill, in terms of level, content, quality, and relevance to your intended degree program.

Generally, a maximum of 90 credits from other accredited colleges may be applied towards your degree at Stonehill, but at least 25% of your credits must be completed at Stonehill. Remember, certain major or core curriculum requirements may not be fulfilled by transfer credits.

One useful tool to help you with this process is a course equivalency database, which Stonehill might have. This database will allow you to see how credits from your current institution typically transfer to Stonehill.

As far as maximizing your transferable credits is concerned, it helps to stick to courses that have clear equivalents at Stonehill or have general applicability in a liberal arts curriculum. Some tips here could be to avoid specialized or narrowly-focused courses that might not have equivalent courses at Stonehill, stick to academic (as opposed to practical/vocational) courses, and complete courses rather than withdrawing from them partway through - Incomplete coursework cannot be transferred.

Finally, it's highly recommended to reach out to your admissions counselor for guidance on this process. They could provide a preliminary evaluation of your transcript to give you an idea of how your credits might transfer. Once you're admitted, Stonehill's Registrar’s Office prepares an official transfer credit evaluation which they will send to you.

Remember, these are general guidelines and your particular case might be different. Speaking to an admission counselor at Stonehill for personalized advice is a great place to start to ensure you get the most out of your existing credits. Good luck with your transfer process!
