What are the transfer rates at top colleges?

Do any of you have info on the transfer rates at some of the top colleges? Trying to gauge how many students they typically accept. Are these rates significantly lower than first-year admit rates?

Transfer admission rates at top colleges are, in fact, usually lower than first-year admission rates due to the smaller number of transfer students they admit each year. This is often due to the amount of available space after the departure of students who choose to leave or who are not able to continue their programs.

For instance, Harvard University typically accepts around 1-2% of transfer applicants, far lower than the first-year acceptance rate. The same applies for Stanford University, with an approximate transfer acceptance rate of around 1-2%.

The University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) tends to be slightly more accepting of transfer students, with a rate that has historically hovered around 5%. However, this is still a smaller percentage than their first-year acceptance rate.

Keep in mind that these transfer rates can fluctuate from year to year and are subject to each university's policies and specific needs for a given year. If transferring is something you're seriously considering, it's crucial to stay informed about the specific requirements and recommendations at each of your prospective universities. This might include maintaining a high GPA, choosing rigorous coursework, and providing compelling personal essays.
