Transferring to Hunter College as a Sophomore?

I'm currently a freshman considering transferring to Hunter College next year as a sophomore. Are there any unique requirements or deadlines I should be aware of for sophomores? Any advice from current or former students?

It's good to see you're considering the many possibilities for your academic journey! Hunter College can be an excellent place to continue your education.

When transferring to Hunter as a sophomore, you'll want to apply as a transfer student. Their priority deadline for the Fall semester is typically February 1, with admissions rolling from January to July. For Spring admission, the priority application deadline is usually December 1.

There are a few essentials you should keep in mind in terms of requirements. You should have at least 24 credits completed by the time you apply. If you have fewer than 24 credits, you need to submit your high school transcript and SAT or ACT scores (keep in mind though, some of these requirements might change due to COVID-related adjustments). Apart from this, you will need to submit a personal essay and letters of recommendation.

On academics, you may want to confer with the admissions office or an academic counselor to ensure that the credits earned in your current program are eligible for transfer. It could help to gather syllabi from your classes or course descriptions from your current institution's catalog as they'll help ascertain credit equivalency.

Lastly, speaking with current and past students who have transferred can provide a valuable perspective—they can share their experience with the transition and offer tips on making the most of your time at Hunter College.

Best of luck on your potential transfer!
