Is a transfer to UCLA from Rio Hondo College possible with my GPA?

I'm at Rio Hondo College and considering transferring to UCLA. Does anyone know the typical GPA needed for transfer students from my college? I want to be sure my grades are up to par.

Hello! Transfers to UCLA certainly are possible, and UCLA looks favorably upon community college transfer applicants.

When it comes to GPA, there's no strict GPA requirement set by UCLA, but competitive applicants typically have GPAs in the range of 3.5 and above. That being said, the required or recommended GPA could be higher or lower depending on your intended major. For example, competitive STEM majors might require a higher GPA than others.

Keep in mind that admissions doesn't solely depend on GPA. UCLA also considers the rigor of your college-level coursework, your personal essays, extracurricular involvement, and other factors. So while GPA is an important factor, it's not the be-all-end-all of your application.

Take advantage of resources at Rio Hondo too. Speak with your academic advisor or transfer counselor there who may have more insights on requirements, deadlines, and opportunities to make your application stand out.

It would be a good idea to also check out UCLA's Transfer Admission Guide for further details. Good luck with your transfer journey!
