Do I need a new ID when transferring to TAMU College Station?

I'm going to transfer to TAMU College Station soon, and I'm wondering about the logistics. Do transfer students need to get a new student ID, or can we keep the one we had at our community college?

As a transfer student moving to TAMU College Station, you will need to get a new student ID. Your former community college ID will not be effective at Texas A&M University. In general, every university or college has its own specific ID card that's used for a variety of purposes – including identification, access to facilities such as dorms and libraries, meal plans, and sometimes even transportation.

Once you're officially registered for your classes at TAMU, you should be able to get your new student ID. Expect to have to provide a government-issued ID to confirm your identity when you go to get your TAMU student ID; frequently, a driver's license, passport, or military ID should suffice.

And congrats on your transfer to TAMU College Station! You will find a robust student community and a lot of resources to support your academic and personal growth. Best of luck!
