How does transferring college credits work for TCU?

I'm considering transferring to TCU and need advice on how to transfer my college credits. Does anyone know how the process works, especially for courses in the College of Science and Engineering? Any tips or experiences would be super helpful!

At Texas Christian University (TCU), transferring credits involves a few steps. First and foremost, you'll need to have an official transcript sent to TCU from each college or university that you have previously attended. If you've attended more than one institution, you'll need to have each of them send in a transcript.

As far as the College of Science and Engineering is concerned, TCU generally accepts credits for courses in which a grade of 'C-' or better was achieved, provided that the course is similar in content and depth to a course that TCU offers. However, the final decision will be in the hands of the academic advisors of the respective department, who will review your transcript(s) and make determinations on a case-by-case basis.

One thing to note is that while TCU might accept your credits, not all accepted credits will necessarily apply toward your chosen degree program. Make sure to connect with your academic advisor or with the admissions office before you transfer, to understand how your credits will apply to your targeted degree.

Finally, TCU has a residency requirement which stipulates that the last 30 semester hours of any undergraduate degree must be earned at TCU. So no matter how many credits you are able to transfer, you will need to spend at least some time studying at TCU.

In order to make the credit transfer successful, be sure to communicate clearly and promptly with your former university, TCU's admissions office, and the academic advisors in the College of Science & Engineering. This will help ensure that any potential issues or confusion can be addressed quickly.
