How does Texas A&M College Station handle transfer equivalencies?

I'm interested in transferring to Texas A&M College Station and I'm trying to figure out how they evaluate transfer courses. How do transfer equivalencies work there, especially from community colleges? Any advice on what's considered equivalent?

Texas A&M University has a well-established process to evaluate transfer courses. They provide a Transfer Course Equivalency tool on their website which allows you to input your current institution and the courses you've taken to see their equivalent at Texas A&M.

Usually, for a course to be considered for transfer, it needs to be from an accredited institution and be similar in nature, level, and content to a course in Texas A&M's undergraduate curriculum. Generally, technical, vocational, remedial, and highly specialized, personal development courses and internships are not transferable.

Additionally, it's important to note that the grades earned in the course must usually be a C or better for the credits to transfer.

That said, while the transfer equivalency tool can give you a general sense of how your credits will transfer, the official determination of transfer credit acceptance is ultimately done by Texas A&M once you've been accepted and your official transcripts have been received by the university.

In terms of advice, get in touch with an admissions counselor at Texas A&M who works with transfer students. They can provide you with further information and guide you in understanding the equivalency process better. Another strategy is to align your community college class choices as closely as possible with the curriculum of the major you're interested in transferring into at Texas A&M. Applying these strategies will make the transfer as smooth as possible.
