Understanding Transfer Credits to Lee College

I'm planning to switch to Lee College and I need to know how my current college credits will transfer over. Does anyone know what the requirements are, and if they accept most credits from other colleges?

Transferring credits between colleges generally requires two steps: verification of accreditation and a course-by-course comparison. Lee College, like most accredited colleges, will need to verify that your previous college is also accredited. This ensures that the standards of academic quality are being upheld. The specific type of accreditation could affect the transferability of your credits, so it's important to investigate

Once your current college's accreditation is confirmed, the next step is the course-by-course comparison. This is where things can get complex. Lee College's admissions or registrar office will review the descriptions & syllabi of your previous courses and compare them to courses offered at their school. They will then determine how many, and which, of your credits can transfer over and apply towards your intended program of study.

Keep in mind that while many general education courses (English, math, social sciences, etc.) usually transfer relatively easily, specialized or program-specific courses may not always have a direct equivalency. In these cases, you may receive elective credits.

A good starting point would be to contact Lee College's admissions office or visit their website to find the appropriate contact. You'll most likely need a copy of your current college's transcript and possibly syllabus/descriptions of your completed courses for the credit evaluation.

Finally, don't be alarmed if not all of your credits transfer over. It doesn't mean your previous coursework was worthless, it just means your new institution may not have a comparable course or program requirement. Good luck with your transfer process!
