Transferring to Manhattan College as an engineering major

I'm looking into transferring to Manhattan College to pursue engineering. Does anyone know what GPA I need to have? Are there other requirements I should be aware of for this specific program?

Manhattan University's School of Engineering is highly regarded and strives for a balance between a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles and practical experience. When considering transfer applicants, Manhattan University typically looks for students with a college GPA of 2.5 or above, but keep in mind that the School of Engineering might have slightly higher academic expectations due to the rigor of its programs.

As a prospective transfer student, you should submit College Transcript(s) from all previously attended colleges to Manhattan University for evaluation. Manhattan University also requires you to submit your official high school transcript, even if you have already completed a two-year Associate's or four-year bachelor's degree. Though these may be less significant compared to your college performance.

For the engineering program specifically, the college would prefer if you've completed coursework in math and science at your current institution, especially if those courses align with the engineering curriculum at Manhattan University, such as Calculus I-II, General Physics, or Chemistry for Engineers.

Additionally, you are required to submit the Common Application, including the essay. Although the topic of the essay is open, it's generally best to write about why you want to transfer to Manhattan University to study engineering and how your past experiences have led you to this decision. Using this space to express your interest in Manhattan University specifically could strengthen your application.

Make sure to also fill out the Transfer College Report and Mid-Term Report, which are part of the Common Application, but are often overlooked.

In practical terms, most transfers occur at the start of the Fall semester, but term-specific deadlines could vary, so it's good to check their site or contact their admissions office for the most up-to-date information.

It's worth noting that every situation is unique, and the admissions committee will take a holistic approach when reviewing your application – considering not only your academic achievements but also your activities outside the classroom, your personal essay, and your letter of recommendation. Good luck with your transfer process!
