Can I transfer credits to UF from a community college?

I'm currently at a community college and considering transferring to UF. Does anyone know how the credit transfer process works and what steps I need to take to ensure my credits are accepted?

Yes, the University of Florida (UF) accepts transfer credits from regionally accredited institutions, which includes most community colleges.

To ensure your courses can be transferred, you should first check with UF’s Transfer Course Evaluation tool. This tool allows you to see courses from other institutions that have been equated to courses at UF. Although this doesn't guarantee your transfer courses will definitely be accepted, it can give you a sense of what to expect.

Additionally, UF has an articulation agreement with the Florida College System. This guarantees the acceptance of Associate of Arts (AA) degree graduates from any one of the 28 community/state colleges in Florida, provided certain criteria are met, including a minimum GPA and meeting other program-specific requirements.

Next, you'll want to submit an official transcript from your community college to UF so your credits can be evaluated. This can typically be done online.

Remember, just because a course transfers, it doesn't mean it will meet a specific degree requirement. The course must match the content and quality of a UF course to be accepted for degree requirements. It's a good idea to consult with an admissions advisor at UF to ensure you're taking the right courses at your current college.

Transferring credits can be complicated, so it's important that you understand all the policies and procedures. Be proactive and communicate with advisors at both your community college and UF to ensure a smooth transition and transfer process.
