GPA Needed to Transfer to USC from Community College?

I'm planning to transfer from my community college to USC, but I'm unsure about what GPA I should aim for. Does anyone have experience with this or know what range of GPAs USC typically accepts for transfers?

USC doesn't publish an explicit minimum GPA to transfer, but the average GPA of admitted transfer students tends to be high––around 3.7. However, keep in mind that GPA is just one component of your transfer application, and admission decisions are not based solely on this number.

Transferring from a community college to USC is fairly common under the Trojan Transfer Plan (TTP). USC looks for students who have completed two years of rigorous academic coursework, including courses within their intended major.

In your application, it's important to highlight your academic interests and how they align with the programs offered at USC. As always, your personal statement and course rigor play significant roles in your application, too.

Remember that even if you're slightly below the average GPA, you may still have a shot if other components of your application are strong –– and vice versa. Make sure you meet any prerequisites for your major, stay involved in campus or community activities, and put forward a compelling personal statement.

Lastly, reach out to the transfer admissions office at USC if you have further questions about the process. They can provide the most current and detailed information.
