Changing recommenders after submitting application?

Hello there, I just submitted my application and realized that I made a mistake in choosing my recommender. Is it possible to change my recommender after the application has been submitted? What should I do in this situation?

Hi! It's understandable that you might feel concerned about a potential mistake in your application. Generally, once you've submitted your application, changes to your recommenders are not allowed. However, I'd recommend reaching out to the admissions office of the college you applied to as soon as possible. Explain the situation and kindly ask if they'd allow an exception in your case. Keep in mind that it's up to the college's discretion whether they will allow a change in recommenders or not.

Also, if your old recommender hasn't yet submitted their recommendation letter, you can ask them to hold off on sending it in as you try to rectify the situation with the school. In the meantime, contact your preferred recommender and ask if they would still be willing to write a letter on your behalf in case the college allows for a change.

Act quickly, as admissions offices may be more willing to accommodate your request if they receive it earlier in the process. Remember to maintain a polite and respectful tone when reaching out to both the school and your recommenders. Good luck, and I hope your situation is resolved in the best possible way!
