I'm planning my classes for next year and was debating on taking AP European History (AP Euro). For those who've taken it, did you find it enjoyable or worthwhile? How much work and studying was involved? Would really appreciate some feedback!
Hey! I took AP European History last year, and I can share my experience with you. First of all, I found it to be an enjoyable class because it covered a wide range of topics, from the Renaissance to present-day Europe, with some fascinating historical events and connections to current world issues. If you enjoy history, you will probably enjoy AP Euro.
As for the workload, it can vary depending on the teacher and your school, but in general, expect to do a considerable amount of reading, essay writing, and preparation for assessments. In my case, we had nightly textbook reading assignments and frequent in-class essays. Even though it involved a considerable amount of work, I felt that it improved my reading comprehension, critical thinking, and writing skills, which proved to be very helpful for my other classes and even college courses.
I'd say that if you have an interest in European history or just want a challenging class to develop your analytical and writing skills, AP Euro is definitely worthwhile. Just make sure to stay on top of the readings and assignments to avoid becoming overwhelmed. Good luck with your decision!
