How competitive is Kode with Klossy?

Hi! I've been checking out Kode with Klossy and I'm wondering if it's really competitive to get into. If any of you guys have participated, what was the application process like? And how prestigious is this program in the eyes of college admissions committees?

Hey there! In general, Kode with Klossy is well-regarded, so being selected showcases dedication and a strong interest in the STEM field, which can positively impact your college applications.

The application process typically involves filling out an online application with basic information about yourself (such as academic background, extracurricular activities, and coding/programming experience), as well as answering several short essay questions. These essays often center around your motivation for wanting to join the program, your goals, and any relevant experience you might have. It's crucial to convey your passion for programming and commitment to learning in these essays, as they're one of the main factors for selection.

In terms of college admissions, Kode with Klossy would usually be considered a Tier 2 or Tier 3 extracurricular activity, which means it demonstrates achievement and leadership or showcases your interests, but isn't an exceptionally rare activity to have taken part in. You can read more about extracurricular tiers on CollegeVine's blog: https://blog.collegevine.com/breaking-down-the-4-tiers-of-extracurricular-activities.

Keep in mind that while prestigious programs like this can be a great addition to your application, colleges are also interested in your long-term commitment to an area. If coding is your passion, consider participating in additional related activities or initiatives during the school year to further emphasize your dedication to the field.

Or, if your schedule is already full during the school year, CollegeVine's blog can help you find some other summer programs related to computer science that you may be able to participate in, in addition to Kode with Klossy: https://blog.collegevine.com/high-school-computer-science-summer-programs.

Best of luck with your application, and I hope you have a fantastic experience if you get into the program!
