What is geoscience in high school?

I saw that my high school offers a geoscience course, but I'm not exactly sure what the subject is about. Can someone help me out by explaining what geoscience is and what topics it covers?

Geoscience is a broad field of study that focuses on the Earth and its various systems, including the atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, and geosphere. In a high school geoscience course, you can expect to learn about topics such as earth structures, geologic processes, rock and mineral identification, plate tectonics, geologic history, climate, natural resources, or even environmental issues.

The course may also include aspects of physical geography, oceanography, meteorology, and environmental science. By studying geoscience, students gain a better understanding of the Earth's systems and the interactions between them, as well as how humans impact these systems. This subject is important because it helps us better manage natural resources, predict and mitigate natural disasters, and understand our planet's history and evolution.

Taking a geoscience course in high school can be an excellent way to explore your interests in Earth sciences and potentially prepare for a college major or career in fields such as geology, environmental science, or atmospheric science. Moreover, it can be a great addition to your schedule if you have a general interest in science and enjoy learning about the natural world.
