Duke vs Johns Hopkins: which has a better pre-med program?

Hey y'all, I'm stuck between applying to Duke and Johns Hopkins for pre-med. Does anyone have any insight on which school has a better program in terms of preparing students for med school? Any help is appreciated!

Hey there! Both Duke and Johns Hopkins are fantastic options for pre-med students, but they do have some differences that might influence your choice.

Johns Hopkins is best known for its strong research focus and connections to its renowned medical school. The school excels in areas like biology and public health, and there are abundant research opportunities for undergrads. However, the academic environment at Johns Hopkins can be quite competitive, so keep that in mind.

On the other hand, Duke's pre-med program also offers a great education, combining rigorous academics with a more collaborative environment. Duke is known for its emphasis on interdisciplinary learning, which can be beneficial to a pre-med student looking to explore other subjects alongside their pre-med coursework. Additionally, Duke's hospital system is consistently ranked as one of the best in the country, so there are plenty of opportunities for shadowing and volunteering.

I'm sorry to say, but there is no definitive winner. The choice between these two schools will come down to your personal preferences, such as location, campus culture, and the type of learning environment you thrive in. Make sure to visit both campuses if you can and speak with current pre-med students to get a better feel for what each school offers. Best of luck with your decision!
