AP Test essentials: What to bring?

Hey guys! AP tests are coming up soon and I was wondering what I should bring with me on test day. Any suggestions on what to pack or advice on what has helped you in the past?

Hey there! Great question. As a fellow AP test-taker, here's a list of essentials to bring on the big day to make sure you're well prepared and comfortable:

1. Photo ID: Bring a valid school or government-issued ID with your photo and name. This is a must for identification purposes.

2. AP Student Pack: If you've taken an AP exam before, you should have an AP Student Pack that contains your AP number. Bring this to help speed up the check-in process. If you don't have one, you'll receive one at the testing center.

3. #2 Pencils: You'll need multiple sharpened #2 pencils with erasers for the multiple-choice section. Mechanical pencils are not allowed.

4. Pens: Have a couple of blue or black ballpoint pens with you for the free-response section.

5. Calculator: If you're allowed to use a calculator for your specific test (e.g., AP Calculus or AP Physics), make sure to bring an approved graphing or scientific calculator with fresh batteries.

6. Watch: Time management is crucial during the exam, so bring a non-smart, non-programmable wristwatch without any alarms or communication capabilities.

7. Snack and water: Nourish yourself during the break by packing a light snack and a bottle of water. Just make sure everything is quiet (no noisy wrappers) and clean to eat.

8. Layered clothing: Dress in layers, so you can adapt to different room temperatures and stay comfortable during the exam.

9. Face mask (optional): Depending on the current guidelines, you may be required to wear a face mask during the exam. Bring one just in case.

10. A final review of important material: You might want to bring any last-minute notes or flashcards to take one more look through before you head in.

Remember to double-check the test center policies regarding what you can and cannot bring into the testing room. Some testing centers require a clear bag or no bag at all. Lastly, leave any electronic devices, books, or bags in a designated area or at home, as they won't be allowed in the exam room.

Good luck with your exams! I hope these suggestions help you feel more prepared and confident on test day.
