CU vs. Colorado State for Environmental Science

Hey there! I'm trying to decide between attending the University of Colorado (CU) and Colorado State for environmental science. Does anyone have any input on which school might have a stronger program or better opportunities? Any help would be much appreciated!

Hello! Both CU and Colorado State have great environmental science programs, but they have their differences. Let me break it down for you.

University of Colorado (CU) Boulder: CU Boulder's environmental program is known for its interdisciplinary approach, incorporating natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. This provides you a broad understanding of environmental issues from multiple perspectives. Additionally, CU Boulder offers a wide range of research opportunities for undergraduates, as it's a reputable research institution. The location in Boulder, surrounded by beautiful outdoor scenery, can be an inspiring environment for environmental studies.

Colorado State University (CSU) Fort Collins: Colorado State has a strong environmental science program with a focus on natural resource management, ecosystem sciences, and land use. CSU is also known for its excellence in sustainability education, as well as its commitment to being a green campus. This can provide you with firsthand experience in sustainable practices. Furthermore, CSU offers students the opportunity to participate in research projects with faculty members.

In terms of better opportunities, both schools have strong environmental science programs and provide research opportunities. It might be more helpful for you to consider factors such as location, campus environment, extracurricular activities, and financial aid offerings, to help you make a more informed decision. Make sure to visit both campuses (virtually or in-person) to get a sense of the atmosphere and talk with faculty and students in the environmental science department.

Best of luck in making your decision!
