Harvard Law Interviews and Acceptance Rates

Hey y'all! Does anyone have any idea about the acceptance rate for applicants who receive an interview at Harvard Law? I just want to know how hopeful I should be if I happen to receive an interview invite.

Hey there! Harvard Law School (HLS) is somewhat tight-lipped about the acceptance rates for applicants who receive an interview, but they do disclose that all students who are eventually admitted must complete an interview. So, an interview is definitely a positive step in the process, since they are only offered to a select group of students.

HLS uses the interview to evaluate not only your intellectual capabilities but also your interpersonal skills, your motivation for pursuing a legal career, and how well you'd fit into their community. If you're invited for an interview, it means the admissions committee is already impressed with your application, and they want to get a better understanding of your character and potential to help them finalize their decision.

To best prepare for the interview, make sure to review your application materials, practice common interview questions (e.g., Why law? Why Harvard?), and be prepared to discuss any noteworthy aspects of your background or experiences. Be genuine and make sure to convey your enthusiasm for attending HLS specifically, rather than just law school in general.

While receiving an interview invite is certainly a positive sign, it's important to remember that it's not a guarantee of admission. That said, your chances of being accepted are higher than they were prior to the interview. Keep up a positive attitude, prepare well for the interview, and remember that no matter the outcome, you're still an outstanding candidate.

Good luck with the process, and I hope you receive that interview invite!
