Pre-law students: what are you majoring in?

Hey fellow pre-law peeps! I'm starting my college search and I want to know what kind of majors you're all pursuing in preparation for law school. Can you share your experiences and what you're majoring in?

Hey there! While I'm not a pre-law student myself, I have several friends who are, and they've chosen a wide variety of majors. Some traditional pre-law majors include political science, English, history, and philosophy. However, there really isn't a "required" major for law school, so you can pursue your own academic interests.

A key thing to consider is that law schools are generally looking for students with strong critical thinking and communication skills – so try to select a major that can help develop those two skillsets. Additionally, if you have a specific area of law you're interested in, your major might align with that (for example, studying environmental science if you want to go into environmental law).

Some of my pre-law friends are majoring in subjects like economics, sociology, or even science and engineering fields. What's important is that they maintain a strong GPA, take relevant electives, and engage in extracurricular activities related to law and policy issues.

At the end of the day, it's essential to choose a major that you're genuinely passionate about and can excel in. Doing well academically while embracing opportunities to develop your legal knowledge and skills will help prepare you for law school, regardless of your specific major. Good luck with your college search!
