What's the difference between Early Assurance and Early Action?

So, I'm a junior and I've been doing research on college applications. I've heard of both Early Assurance and Early Action. What's the difference between these two admission options, and should I consider one of them?

Early Action refers to an early application option for prospective undergraduate students while Early Assurance is an option offered to current undergraduate students who are interested in professional schools.

Early Action is a non-binding early application option that allows you to apply to a college before the Regular Decision deadline, typically around November 1st or November 15th. The decision notifications for EA applicants are usually received in December or January. Unlike Early Decision, which is a binding agreement, Early Action does not require commitment to the college if admitted. This means you can apply to multiple EA schools and consider all your options before making a decision by May 1st, the National College Decision Day.

Early Assurance programs are typically offered by medical or other professional schools and are designed for high-achieving undergraduate students. These programs allow students to secure their spots in a professional program, such as medical school, even before completing their undergraduate degree. An Early Assurance program often requires a separate application process, and if admitted, the student is assured a place in the graduate or professional program once they satisfy certain requirements during their undergraduate education.
