USC acting program acceptance rates?

Hi, I'm a junior looking into USC's acting program. I was wondering if anyone knows the acceptance rate for their program and what the audition process is like. Any advice would be appreciated!

Hello! USC's School of Dramatic Arts has a highly competitive acting program, with an acceptance rate typically ranging between 4-6%. The number of applicants varies each year, but generally, only around 20-30 students are accepted into the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Acting program annually.

The audition process for USC's acting program consists of a few main components:

1. Pre-screening: You'll need to submit an online application that includes a personal statement, resume, headshot, and two contrasting monologues. Your monologues should be recorded as videos, each around 1 to 2 minutes in length, showcasing your range and dedication to the craft. USC's pre-screening process is quite selective, so put a lot of thought and effort into your audition materials.

2. Callbacks: If your pre-screening materials meet the program's requirements, you'll be invited to a callback. This usually takes place at the USC campus, but remote auditions may be available in certain situations. During your callback, you'll participate in group activities, interviews, and additional acting exercises, allowing the faculty to assess your ability to work with others and gain a deeper understanding of your acting potential.

3. Admissions decision: Following the callback, the admissions committee will evaluate your audition performance along with your academic achievements and other materials submitted with your general USC application. You'll be notified of your admissions decision in accordance with USC's standard notification dates.

To further strengthen your application, make sure you have a solid foundation in acting through extracurricular activities, classes, and/or theater participation. Get recommendations from teachers or theater directors who can attest to your dedication, passion, and skill in acting. Finally, prepare your monologues thoroughly and select pieces that genuinely resonate with you and showcase your unique talents.

Best of luck with your application to USC's acting program!
