Is it better to have a high GPA or strong extracurriculars?

Hi everyone! I'm a junior in high school and I'm starting to think about the college application process. I have a pretty good GPA, but I'm wondering if I should focus more on my extracurriculars. Is it better to have a high GPA or strong extracurriculars when applying to college? I appreciate any advice you guys can give! Thank you!

Hi there! It's great that you're thinking about the college application process early. Both GPA and extracurriculars are important, but it's all about finding the right balance. Colleges want well-rounded students who excel academically and show a genuine interest and dedication to their extracurriculars. My own child went through this process not too long ago, and we found that a combination of a strong GPA and meaningful extracurriculars worked best. If you already have a good GPA, maintaining it should be a priority, but don't neglect your extracurricular activities either. Try to find activities that you're passionate about and can commit to, as colleges appreciate students who demonstrate leadership and dedication in those areas. Overall, focus on being the best version of yourself and showcase what makes you unique in both your academics and extracurriculars. Best of luck!
