Western Carolina vs. Appalachian State: Which Has Better Business Programs?

Hey everyone! I've got acceptances from both Western Carolina University and Appalachian State, but I'm struggling to pick the better school for business programs. Can anyone offer some input on the quality of their business programs and opportunities available for business majors? Thanks in advance!

Congratulations on your acceptances! Both Western Carolina University (WCU) and Appalachian State have solid business programs, but there are a few differences to consider.

Appalachian State's Walker College of Business has a strong reputation for its business programs. They offer a variety of majors, including accounting, economics, finance, management, marketing, and more. Additionally, the college has a great faculty, as well as frequent opportunities for professional development, internships, and networking events. The business school is also AACSB-accredited, which is a prestigious accreditation for business schools worldwide.

WCU's College of Business is also AACSB-accredited and offers a range of majors, including accounting, finance, sales and marketing, and sport management. Although WCU's business programs may not be as well-known as Appalachian State's, they still provide a solid education, especially thanks to their smaller class sizes and opportunities for hands-on experiences like internships and projects.

You should also consider location and campus atmosphere, as Western Carolina is located in a more rural setting, while Appalachian State is in the somewhat bigger town of Boone.

When choosing between the schools, it's essential to prioritize what matters most to you in a business program. Think about factors such as course offerings, faculty, available resources, and internship opportunities, as well as the overall feel of the campus. Visiting both campuses, if possible, and talking to current students or alumni can also help you decide which program is a better fit for your goals and preferences.

Good luck with your decision!
