Accelerated PT Programs

Hey everyone! I'm interested in physical therapy and I've heard there are some accelerated programs out there? Can anyone recommend any good colleges with reputable accelerated PT programs? Thanks in advance!

Hey! It's nice to see you're interested in physical therapy. There are indeed some great accelerated Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) programs available, which typically allow you to complete a Bachelor's degree and DPT degree in a 6- or 7-year time frame instead of the traditional 8 years.

Here are a few programs you might want to consider:

1. Northeastern University: The Bouvé College of Health Sciences at Northeastern offers a 6-year accelerated DPT program. You'd spend your first two years completing undergraduate coursework, and the next four years are devoted to the DPT education.

2. Boston University: BU's Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences has a well-regarded 6-year accelerated DPT program. It has a strong focus on clinical experience and boasts a large network of clinical affiliations.

3. University of Scranton: The Panuska College of Professional Studies at the University of Scranton offers a 6-year DPT program. This program places a strong emphasis on research, professional development, and ethical practice.

4. Saint Louis University: SLU has a 6-year accelerated DPT program that allows students to earn a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and then move directly into the DPT portion.

5. Marymount University: Marymount offers a 6-year DPT program, open to high school seniors who meet specific requirements. You would earn a Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences before moving on to the professional DPT curriculum.

These are just a few options to consider! Since you're looking for a reputable accelerated PT program, you should research the program outcomes, such as licensure exam pass rates and employment rates after graduation. Also, visit the schools and connect with students or alumni if you can, to gain insight into their experiences. Good luck with your search!
