Duke Early Decision?

Hey all, I'm a junior and I'm seriously considering applying to Duke next year. I saw something about Early Decision 1, but I was wondering if they also offer Early Decision 2? Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks!

Hey! Duke University offers an Early Decision (ED) plan but does not have an Early Decision 2 (ED2) option. If you're committed to attending Duke and it's your top choice, applying through the Early Decision plan can potentially give you a slight boost in your chances of admission, as schools usually admit a significant portion of their class from the ED pool. The deadline for applying to Duke under their ED plan is typically November 1st, and you'll receive a decision in mid-December. Keep in mind that if you're accepted through Early Decision, it's a binding agreement, which means you're obligated to enroll at Duke and must withdraw all other college applications.

If you're not ready to commit to Duke, or if you would like to compare financial aid packages from multiple schools, you can instead apply via the Regular Decision (RD) plan. The deadline for RD is usually January 2nd, and decisions are released in late March.

Good luck with your college application process, and I hope this information helps!
