AP Scholar with Distinction award - national or not?

So, I just found out that I received the AP Scholar with Distinction award and I'm pretty pumped! I'm just curious, though - is this award recognized on a national level? How prestigious is it, really?

Congratulations on receiving the AP Scholar with Distinction award! This award is certainly recognized on a national level, as it is awarded by the College Board, the organization responsible for administering the AP exams across the United States. However, when it comes to prestige, it's not as highly regarded as some other national academic awards or honors.

To qualify for the AP Scholar with Distinction award, a student must score an average of at least 3.5 on all the AP exams they take and get a score of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. While this achievement does demonstrate a consistent level of academic rigor and success in your coursework, it is important to keep in mind the context of the broader college admissions process.

In regards to extracurricular achievements, the AP Scholar awards generally fall into the Tier 3 category. While this award will certainly bolster your application, it's not as highly esteemed as some national or international academic competitions or honors (Tier 1 and Tier 2). Admissions committees will appreciate your dedication to taking multiple AP courses and performing well on the exams, but top-tier colleges often see many applicants with this award or similar accomplishments.

Remember that college admissions officers evaluate applications holistically, and while this award is a positive addition to your application, it would be wise to continue seeking out a diverse mix of extracurricular activities and achievements, especially those that align with your passions and showcase your unique strengths or interests.
