USC Transfer Deadline Info

I'm currently at a community college and considering transferring to the University of Southern California. Can somebody please provide info on when their transfer application deadline is and what they're looking for in transfer applicants?

The University of Southern California's (USC) transfer application deadline for fall admission is generally on February 15th. Keep in mind that this date can change from year to year, so it's always a good idea to double-check the deadline on the USC Admissions website.

Also note that the transfer deadline is generally around December 1st for students applying to certain programs that require portfolios or auditions. This date applies to applicants to the Kaufman School of Dance, the School of Cinematic Arts (BFA programs only), the School of Dramatic Arts (BFA programs only), and the Thornton School of Music.

When it comes to transfer applicants, USC is looking for students who have demonstrated strong academic performance in their current institution, usually with a GPA of 3.7 or higher. USC also considers your extracurricular involvement, community engagement, and any work experience you might have.

In addition to your academic performance, USC will evaluate your progress in meeting specific course requirements based on your intended major. You should use the USC Articulation Agreement to understand which courses at your community college will transfer over to USC, as well as any prerequisites the University expects you to have completed.

Make sure to submit all required materials, which typically include official transcripts from your current college and any previous institutions you've attended, your application essay, a list of extracurricular activities, and at least one letter of recommendation from a professor or counselor who can speak to your academic performance and personal qualities.

Although admission to USC is competitive, they have a robust transfer program, and many students successfully transfer from community colleges each year. Focus on maintaining a strong GPA, meeting course requirements for your intended major, and engaging in activities that will strengthen your overall application.

Best of luck on your transfer application journey!
