Swarthmore Early Decision Deadline

Hey everyone! I'm planning on applying to Swarthmore, and I wanted to give my application the best possible chance. When is the deadline for early decision at Swarthmore? Does applying early help increase my chances of getting accepted?

Hello! Swarthmore offers two Early Decision (ED) rounds for applicants. The deadline for Early Decision I is November 15, while the deadline for Early Decision II is January 1. Regular decision applications are due by January 4.

Applying Early Decision does generally increase your chances of admission at most colleges, including Swarthmore, as it demonstrates your commitment to the college and helps them better predict their yield (the percentage of students who enroll following admission). However, it is important to remember that Early Decision is a binding commitment, which means if you are accepted, you agree to enroll and withdraw all other college applications.

While there is usually a higher acceptance rate for ED applicants than regular decision applicants, you should only apply ED if you are certain that Swarthmore is your top choice, and you are comfortable with the financial aid provided if admitted.

If you need to compare financial aid packages from multiple colleges or want to keep your options open, applying Early Decision might not be the best choice for you. It's crucial to consider your individual situation and preferences before making a decision, but applying ED can indeed provide a boost to your chances at Swarthmore if you are prepared to commit. Good luck with your application!
