Is UConn considered a Public Ivy?

I've seen some people talk about Public Ivies, but I'm not sure if UConn is considered one. Can anyone confirm if UConn is a Public Ivy?

UConn (University of Connecticut) is generally not considered a Public Ivy. The term "Public Ivy" was originally coined by Richard Moll in his 1985 book, "Public Ivies: A Guide to America's Best Public Undergraduate Colleges and Universities." The list featured eight prominent state schools that were known for providing an Ivy League-like education at a lower cost. These schools are:

1. University of California, Berkeley

2. University of California, Los Angeles

3. University of Michigan

4. University of Virginia

5. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

6. College of William & Mary

7. University of Texas at Austin

8. University of Vermont

Since the publication of the book, people have expanded the list to include additional schools, but UConn is typically not part of the extended list either. However, it's worth noting that UConn is a reputable public research university with strong academic programs, so it's definitely an excellent choice for many students, even if it isn't considered a Public Ivy.
