Does BU care about demonstrated interest?

Hi all! I'm starting to plan out which colleges I want to apply to, and Boston University is on my list. I know that some colleges track demonstrated interest, but I was a little unsure about BU. Does anyone know if BU cares about demonstrated interest and what are some effective ways to show interest if they do track it?

Boston University is often known for tracking demonstrated interest in their applicants. They do this to get a sense of who is genuinely excited to attend. Don't worry if you can't visit the school to demonstrate your interest – there are plenty of ways to show the school that you are thinking about them in advance.

Some effective ways to demonstrate interest in BU are:

1. Attend college fairs and information sessions: Virtual or in-person, these events exhibit your intent to learn more about the university and can help showcase your enthusiasm for BU. Be sure to register in advance if required and engage during sessions by asking thoughtful questions.

2. Visit campus: Visiting is helpful for you to get a sense of the school's atmosphere and community. When or if you have your admission interview, your familiarity with the campus can demonstrate your interest.

3. Engage with social media platforms: Following BU's social media accounts and interacting with their content can indirectly show your interest and keep you informed about events, news, and developments at the university.

4. Connect with current BU students and alumni: Participate in university-sponsored networking events or reach out to current students and alumni through social media or platforms like LinkedIn. This can offer insight into the school culture which can be beneficial during application process.

5. Mention BU-specific attributes in your essays: When writing your application essays, particularly any supplemental essays, be sure to highlight aspects of BU that you genuinely appreciate or that specifically align with your personal interests and goals.

6. Apply for an alumni interview: BU offers alumni interviews. Submitting a request for an alumni interview can show your interest in the university and provide an additional touchpoint for a more personalized evaluation.

Keep in mind that the most important factors in any college application are still your academic performance, extracurricular involvement, and the overall strength of your application. Demonstrated interest can be beneficial, but it's essential to focus on the core components of your application first. Good luck!
