Easiest Major to Get into Cornell?

Hi guys! I'm really interested in Cornell and I was wondering if there are any 'easier' majors to get accepted into? I know all majors are competitive, but are there any that might give me a slightly better chance? Thank you!

Hey there! While it's true that some majors at Cornell might be slightly less competitive than others, it's important to keep in mind that Cornell, as an Ivy League school, is highly selective overall. It's not advisable to choose a major simply because it might be easier to get into, as you'll want to focus on an area that genuinely interests and engages you throughout your college experience.

That being said, some colleges within Cornell may have slightly lower acceptance rates compared to others. For example, the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Engineering tend to be more competitive, whereas the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) and the School of Industrial and Labor Relations (ILR) might be somewhat less so.

However, each individual college and major within Cornell has different criteria for admission, so it's important to keep those in mind when you're deciding on your area of interest. For example, CALS emphasizes an applicant's demonstrated commitment to the agriculture, life sciences, or a related field, while ILR looks for a strong background or interest in labor relations and social justice.

Ultimately, the best approach is to focus on finding a major or program that aligns with your personal interests and career goals, rather than trying to game the system. Admissions committees can often tell when an applicant is not genuinely interested in the field they are applying for. So, rather than choosing a major based on its perceived "easiness," focus on presenting a strong application that demonstrates your passion and dedication to a particular field of study. Good luck with your application!
