University of Texas and Early Decision

Hi there! I'm a junior and UT Austin is my dream school, but I'm not sure if they have an Early Decision option. Does anyone know if UT has an ED policy? I'd really appreciate any help with this!

Hello! UT Austin does not offer an Early Decision (ED) option for applicants. Instead, they have an Early Action (EA) option with a deadline of November 1. By applying EA, you still get the advantage of potentially receiving an earlier admissions decision, but since it's non-binding, you're not obligated to attend UT Austin if you're accepted.

Keep in mind that you should carefully consider whether to apply EA or Regular Decision (RD) based on the strength of your application and your level of confidence about your chances of admission. If your application is strong and complete by the EA deadline, then by all means, apply early! However, if you feel that you need more time to work on your application materials or retake a standardized test, it might be better to apply during the RD round, which typically has a deadline in December or January.

Good luck with your application to UT Austin!
