Understanding Quarter Credits

The main difference between semester and quarter credits lies in the conversion between the two systems. Quarter credits are worth less than semester credits, so if you were to transfer from a quarter-based school to a semester-based school (or vice versa), the credits would need to be converted. The general conversion ratio is 1 semester credit = 1.5 quarter credits. So, if you have 12 quarter credits, it would equate to 8 semester credits (12 x 2/3 = 8).
