Yale admission stats

Hey everyone, I'm curious about Yale's admission stats, like their acceptance rate, median GPA, and SAT/ACT scores for accepted students. Anybody have any info on this? Really appreciate any input!

Hello! I'd be happy to help provide some information about Yale's admission stats. Keep in mind that these numbers can change slightly from year to year, so it's always a good idea to check the school's official website for the most updated information. But here's a general overview to give you an idea of what Yale is looking for:

Acceptance rate: Yale's overall acceptance rate is around 5%, which makes it an extremely competitive school. It's important to remember that this rate varies depending on the application cycle and the pool of applicants.

Median GPA: Yale doesn't officially report a median GPA for incoming students, but a high GPA is certainly important. Most students who are accepted to Yale have a GPA of 4.0 (unweighted) or higher (weighted). However, Yale does practice holistic admissions, so having a GPA below 4.0 doesn't automatically disqualify you if other aspects of your application are strong.

SAT/ACT scores: For students who choose to submit SAT or ACT scores (Yale is currently test-optional through at least the 2023-2024 application cycle), the middle 50% range for the SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section is 720-770. For the ACT, the middle 50% range is about 33-35. By aiming to score within or above these ranges, you'll place yourself in a competitive position among other applicants.

Keep in mind that while these stats can give you a general idea of the academic qualifications of students accepted to Yale, the admissions committee takes many other factors into consideration. These include extracurricular activities, leadership experiences, personal essays, and recommendation letters. A strong application will showcase a combination of academic achievement and personal passion.

Best of luck with the admissions process!
