Hey guys, as a junior, I'm starting to work on my college list and I want to major in criminal justice. Can you suggest some of the top criminal justice universities in the US? Thanks for your help!

Hi there! It's great that you've chosen to pursue criminal justice as your major. I'd be happy to suggest some universities with strong criminal justice programs.

1. University of Maryland, College Park: Located in College Park, MD, the University of Maryland is home to the renowned Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice. The department's faculty is highly respected, and the program offers a solid education in both theory and practical skills. Being near Washington D.C. also allows for excellent networking opportunities with criminal justice agencies and organizations.

2. Pennsylvania State University: With a strong focus on research and policy, Penn State's criminal justice program is an excellent choice for those seeking to make a difference in the field. The university's faculty is well-regarded, and students have the opportunity to work on research projects and gain hands-on experience.

3. Michigan State University: MSU's School of Criminal Justice is one of the oldest and most respected in the country. The program offers undergraduate students a comprehensive education in criminal justice, with many opportunities for internships and study abroad experiences.

4. University of Cincinnati: UC's School of Criminal Justice is highly regarded for its focus on research and real-world application in the field. The program emphasizes a range of subjects, including law enforcement, corrections, and crime prevention.

5. Florida State University: Located in Tallahassee, FL, FSU's College of Criminology and Criminal Justice offers undergraduate and graduate programs in the field. The college emphasizes research and practical application, and students can participate in a range of internships, research opportunities, and study abroad programs.

While this list hopefully gives you a good starting point for your research, it's important to note that the "best" program for you might not be the highest-ranked. Instead, consider factors such as location, campus culture, financial aid opportunities, and more when making your decision. You want to be sure that you'll be in an environment where you'll thrive personally as well as academically.

I hope these suggestions help to get you started on your search, though, and best of luck with your college applications!
