Hey guys, I've heard the term 'AP Scholar with Distinction' being thrown around, but I'm not quite sure what it means. Can somebody explain what this recognition is and how it's earned? Thanks in advance!
Hey there! AP Scholar with Distinction is a recognition awarded by the College Board to high school students who have demonstrated outstanding performance in their Advanced Placement (AP) exams. To qualify for this distinction, a student must receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all their AP exams and score a 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.
This recognition is a symbol of academic achievement and indicates that you have been successful in mastering college-level material through your AP courses. While it can be a nice addition to your college application, keep in mind that colleges generally place more importance on your course rigor, grades in AP courses, and GPA rather than these kinds of recognitions alone. That said, it certainly doesn't hurt to mention this achievement in your application, as it serves as an additional indicator that you've taken challenging courses and performed well in them.
Congratulations on earning the AP Scholar with Distinction! Good luck with your college applications!
