Hey everyone! I'm currently a junior and looking to apply to Duke next year. I heard that they went test-optional for a while, but I'm not sure if it's still in effect for my class. Does anyone know if Duke is remaining test-optional for this year? Thanks!
Hey there! You're right, Duke University did implement a test-optional policy during the pandemic. While that policy is officially still in place, Duke does recommend that students take the SAT or ACT (https://admissions.duke.edu/what-we-look-for/), and at a school as competitive as Duke, you can generally treat a recommendation as a requirement.
However, every applicant's situation is different, so if you want more comprehensive guidance on how to navigate test-optional policies, especially at highly selective institutions, check out CollegeVine's blog: https://blog.collegevine.com/does-test-optional-mean-test-optional/. Good luck with your application process!
