Davidson Early Action

Hi everyone, I'm really interested in applying to Davidson College. Does Davidson have an Early Action program that I can apply to? If so, what are the deadlines and any specific requirements I should be aware of?

Hi there! Davidson College does not have an Early Action program, but does offer Early Decision. While there are similarities between the two in terms of timeline, be aware that Early Decision is a binding agreement, which means that if you are accepted, you are committed to attend Davidson and must withdraw all other college applications. So, if you want to keep your options open, applying early to Davidson may not be for you.

If you are still interested in the Early Decision option, Davidson has two Early Decision deadlines: Early Decision I (EDI) and Early Decision II (EDII). For EDI, the deadline is usually around November 15th, while for EDII, the deadline is around January 5th, and is typically the same as the Regular Decision deadline. EDI applicants will get their decisions in mid-December, whereas EDII applicants will hear back from Davidson in late January.

Generally, both of Davidson's Early Decision programs require the same application components as Regular Decision, including the Common Application, transcripts, letters of recommendation, and an application fee (fee waivers are available for those who qualify). The main difference between the two is that EDI allows you to potentially finish your college process earlier, by locking in your acceptance at your top choice school.

One thing to consider is that by applying Early Decision, you are showing tremendous interest in Davidson, which can provide a slight boost to your chances of admission. However, again, remember that the commitment is binding, so only apply Early Decision if you are comfortable taking all your other options off the table.
