Tracking demonstrated interest at Yale?

Hi everyone, I'm super interested in applying to Yale and want to make sure they know how much I want to attend. I was wondering if they track demonstrated interest and if so, what should I be doing to express my interest in their school? Thanks in advance!

Hi there! Yale, like most Ivy League institutions, does not formally consider demonstrated interest in their admissions process. This means they don't specifically track or weight any interactions you have with the school when making admissions decisions. That being said, there are still ways you can showcase your interest and enthusiasm for Yale through your application itself.

First, consider applying Early Action (EA) if you feel your application is strong. Applying EA signals to Yale that the school is among your top choices. Although applying EA doesn't demonstrate the same commitment as Early Decision (since you're not obligated to attend if accepted), it still shows you're enthusiastic about the institution.

Second, be sure to thoroughly research Yale and tailor your application materials, especially your essays, to showcase your understanding of the school and how it aligns with your goals. The "Why Yale" essay is an opportunity for you to demonstrate your genuine interest in the school. Be specific about the classes, programs, clubs, or research opportunities you want to pursue at Yale, and explain how these offerings align with your academic and extracurricular interests.

Finally, although formal demonstrated interest doesn't factor into Yale's admissions decisions, it's still a good idea to engage with any opportunities to learn more about the school. Attend virtual or in-person information sessions, engage with Yale's social media, subscribe to their email list, and talk to current students and alumni when possible. While these activities won't directly affect your chances of admission, they can help you better understand Yale's culture, ultimately giving you more knowledge and insight to incorporate into your application materials.

Good luck with your application, and remember that conveying your enthusiasm for Yale within your application is the most important thing you can do!
