Rice University out-of-state acceptance rate?

Hi, I'm an out-of-state student considering applying to Rice University. I'm a little bit stressed about my chances because I don't know if being an out-of-state student affects my chances of getting in or not. Does anyone know the acceptance rate for out-of-state applicants, and if it differs from the overall acceptance rate? Thanks so much for your help!

Hello! Rice University is a private institution, so unlike public universities that often prioritize in-state applicants, Rice doesn't differentiate between in-state and out-of-state students when reviewing applications. As a result, there isn't a separate acceptance rate for out-of-state applicants. Rice uses a holistic admissions process, so your residency won't put you at a disadvantage.

Rice University's overall acceptance rate is typically around 9%. Remember, your chances of getting in depend on several factors, such as your grades, test scores (if applicable), essays, extracurriculars, and letters of recommendation. Since they review applications holistically, it's important to present your best self and create a well-rounded application, showcasing your various strengths and qualities.

Best of luck with your application!
