Hey, fellow high school juniors! I'm planning on applying to UMich and was wondering if they do interviews as part of their admissions process. If yes, any tips on how to prepare for them? Thanks, everyone!
Hello! The University of Michigan (UMich) does not offer or require evaluative alumni interviews as part of their undergraduate admissions process. So, you don't need to worry about preparing for an interview when applying to UMich.
However, if you're still interested in learning more about the school and connecting with current students or alumni, you might consider attending college fairs, college visit days, or online information sessions hosted by UMich. These are great ways to gain insights into student life, academics, and campus culture, and to have any of your questions answered.
And, if you want suggestions for how to strengthen the aspects of your application that UMich does consider, I'd check out this blog post from CollegeVine, which contains detailed guidance on how to respond to their school-specific supplemental essays: https://blog.collegevine.com/how-to-write-the-university-of-michigan-essays
While not the same as a face-to-face conversation, the essays can be a chance to do some of the same things you'd do in an interview, namely let your unique personality shine through and highlight aspects of your background that might not be evident from your transcript or activities list.
Good luck with your application!
