Do I need ACT scores for University of Maryland?

Hi there! I've been researching the University of Maryland and saw people mention ACT scores. I haven't taken the ACT, just the SAT. Is the ACT required for admission, or can I apply with just my SAT scores? Thanks for the help!

Hi! The University of Maryland does not require test scores (ACT or SAT) for admission at the moment. The University of Maryland (UMD) has a test-optional policy, which means that you have the choice to submit your SAT or ACT scores, or not to submit them at all. This policy gives applicants the flexibility to present their application with or without standardized test scores, allowing you to decide if you want to include them or not based on your personal situation and how well you believe they represent your academic abilities.

It's important to keep in mind that the university will still give strong consideration to other aspects of your application, such as your high school courses and grades, extracurricular activities, and any personal statements or supplemental essays. Be sure to pay attention to these components when preparing your application, as they will help the admissions committee gain a better understanding of your academic profile and unique strengths.

Good luck with your application, and I hope this clears up any confusion regarding the ACT and University of Maryland!
