Easiest NYU school to get into?

Hey people, I've got my heart set on attending NYU, but I know it can be pretty competitive. Which NYU schools are considered easier to get into? I'd really appreciate some guidance on this as I start working on my applications!

Hey there! It's great that you're set on attending NYU. Given the competitiveness of the school, it makes sense you're trying to be strategic and maximize your odds, but remember that what matters most is selecting the college that aligns with your interests and academic goals.

NYU as a whole is highly selective, and even if the school you're applying to is slightly harder to get into overall, if your background aligns well with what their admissions officers are looking for, you'll likely have more success than you would just applying to the least competitive school.

That being said, here's a brief overview of NYU colleges in terms of relative competitiveness:

1. The Leonard N. Stern School of Business and Tisch School of the Arts are generally considered the most competitive schools within NYU due to their strong programs and limited spots. So, they might not be the ones you'd want to focus on if you're seeking an "easier" admission path.

2. The College of Arts and Science (CAS) is in the middle of the pack. It is the largest college within NYU and offers a wide variety of majors, which makes it an appealing choice for many applicants who are either unsure of what they'd like to study, interested in interdisciplinary work, or some combination of the two. However, it still maintains a decent level of competitiveness.

3. Liberal Studies (LS) and the Silver School of Social Work are seen as somewhat less competitive than the other NYU colleges. LS offers a unique Core Program that focuses on providing students with a liberal arts foundation for their first two years, before they transition into another NYU college for a major. Meanwhile, the Silver School of Social Work mostly focuses on social work and related fields. If you're genuinely interested in these programs, they may be worth considering.

4. Lastly, the School of Professional Studies (SPS) has a somewhat more accessible acceptance rate. SPS offers majors in applied fields like real estate, hospitality, and sports administration. So, if you're interested in these areas, SPS might be a good option for you.

Remember, while it's useful to understand the relative competitiveness of each college, what matters most is your true passions, and what kind of education will help you explore them further. Fitting into the right program is what will lead to a better college experience and more success in the long run.

Finally, while particular programs at NYU can have their own requirements, if you're looking for tips on how to strengthen your main application, check out this blog post from CollegeVine, which contains detailed guidance on how to tackle NYU's school-specific supplemental essays: https://blog.collegevine.com/how-to-write-the-nyu-essays/. At selective schools like NYU, the essays can often be just the thing that distinguishes one qualified applicant from another, no matter which school you're applying to.

Good luck with your applications!
